Dehlia Low is a new Asheville-based band focused on early country,bluegrass, and original music. Their songs feature hard-hitting vocalswith tight harmonies backed up beautifully by masterful dobro andmandolin playing, lively fiddling, and a booming upright bass. BAND BIO
Anya Hinkle, originally from Blacksburg, Virginia, is a powerful andsoulful country vocalist and spirited fiddler. Anya has been singingand playing fiddle and guitar since childhood. Dehlia Low performs anumber of Anya's original songs.Aaron Ballance hails from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and sincemoving to Asheville in 2006 has recently been an in-demand studiomusician there on dobro and pedal steel. Aaron has been playing musicsince he was 13 and has been involved in many different musicalcollaboratives. He contributes original instrumentals and vocal songsto the group.
Stacy Claude, on guitar and vocals, of South Carolina started singingin church choirs as a child, which eventually led to her interest inthe guitar and acoustic music. She has performed and recorded in Utahand Colorado with Blue String Theory, and in the Asheville area withBlue Roan. Her clear and strong singing brings down the house and shecontributes a number of original songs to Dehlia's set list.
Bryan Clendenin of Hurricane, West Virginia is incredibly versatile andtalented on mandolin and also contributes vocals and original music toDehlia Low. Bryan has been playing mandolin for over 10 years and hasperformed all over the Colorado region with his bluegrass band TheStanley Tones. In 2007 Bryan decided to return to his roots inAppalachia and bring his talents to Dehlia.
Scott Shuffler, originally from Morganton, NC holds down the timing onupright bass. Scott's roots in bluegrass run deep, as his uncles George and John Shuffler spent many years recording and traveling with TheStanley Brothers. After performing in a few rock bands around theMorganton and Greensboro area, he decided to follow his heritage andgive a full time commitment to bluegrass in 2006.
